A Film That Reminds You of Somewhere
All About My Mother isn’t my favourite Almodóvar (big fan though!), but it’s up there. I’m picking it since it’s shot in the beautiful, astonishing Barcelona; the perfect mix of city and sea, the beaches, the buildings, the people make it one of my top 3 favourite cities in the world.
Manuela (Cecilia Roth), a mother who moves to Barcelona to get in touch with the father of her child finds peace and herself in the beautiful landscape of the city. Many of the traditional sights (Sagrada Família, Palau de la Música Catalana(pictured)) are shown with the lovely small alleys and parks that the city keeps. Great film, even better scenery! Almodóvar usually works in Madrid, but now

Absolutely brilliant film; studied it in college and it’s stuck with me as one of my all time favourites. So much vibrancy and emotion.
