Recap : The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Oh, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky … Besides a few snarky comments about Colin Firth’s racist antics and Jodie Foster’s Beaver the comedy didn’t compare to last year’s interesting and surprising show.

The Globes proved again how predictable and surprising they can be at the same time. With some of the most refreshing picks over at TV (Homeland, Kelsey Grammer, Dinklage, Modern Family) we got to flunder over some really obvious and even undeserving choices (Meryl Streep really?). Let’s hope the Academy kicks it out of the park this year.

Enjoy the Clooney show!

Highlights : Sidney Poitier, Christopher Plummer’s win, The appearence of the Dog from the Artist, George Clooney’s acceptance speech, Kelsey Grammer and Homeland triumphing, David Fincher refusing to pass Meryl Streep her glasses, Kirsten Wiig, Jean Dujardin, Brad Pitt’s cane.

Disappointments : Ricky Gervais, The Descendants winning best picture, Rango being snubbed, Meryl Streep grabbing her hundred and tenth award and acting ‘surprised’, Kate Winslet winning, Matt LeBlanc sucking the lifeforce out of everyone in the room. Not enough Fassbender, Branagh, McCarthy, Davis or Gleeson.

  1. I Loved Clooney’s Speech, Homeland Wins, Dinklage and Scorsese winning. Kinda disappointed with Streep and Spencer winning. But otherwise, pretty much as per the expectations.

  2. Glad to see that Idris Elba (who I’ve thought was brilliant since he was in The Wire) and Peter Dinklage (motherfucking Tyrion) got some love.

    • I was mildly disappointed but than again Jean Dujardin’s speech was absolutely charming.

What was that bathtub clip from!? It was hilarious. Dracula..

  3. Yes, Ricky Gervais was a disappointment and made an utterly predictable Globe ceremony even more bland. Props to Meryl Streep for having the most authentic-looking speech on stage as well as George Clooney for being so damn charming.
