Watch This ! The 2012 Oscars and the Bechdel Test

I’m currently writing an essay on the African American female at the Academy Awards for my cultural sociology class, so I found this particularly interesting. Why do you guys think about the Bechdel test and its variations?

Clearly feministfrequency has a point since Hollywood is run mostly by men and the Academy Awards at times evidently misrepresent what’s going on in the film world. But is the Bechdel test the only way to measure whether a female character is central to the plot?
